			<description><![CDATA[ I&#39;m in need of some particular nickel silver fittings and these particular ones I can&#39;t make by forming two halves out of thin sheet.

What I&#39;m thinking of doing is making a mold for doing either the whole fitting or making one to do each half of the fitting and just solder both halves
together.

Now my question are 1) Is it possible to make a mold from a block of graphite that can hold up to this. 2) Can the same graphite be used to make a crucible to

			<description><![CDATA[ i saw a video on making mokume from coins and i thought i would try it my first attempt terned out ok but every other time i have had issues with the welds failing when i start to forge it down, im using a charcoal forge and a pair of tongs, i just hold them in the fire till they are glowing an orange color and then gently hammer them down, they stick at first but later brake apart, i have had a some partial melts before so i don't think im not getting hot enough im wondering if its oxidation... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ The recipe that I have for shakudo is by volume.  To measure by weight is the correction factor the specific gravity of gold divided by the specific gravity of copper. 			<description><![CDATA[ after watching prizzims video I got the bug...<br><br>did some poking around google and wikipedia and found that pre-2000 canadian nickels and quarters are all nickel and US quarters from '65-somewhere in the '80's are mostly copper with some nickel (something like 80:20).  so I alternately stacked 5 each US and CA quarters of the right dates, drilled a hole through and peined a piece of copper wire to hold em together.  then lit the forge...<br><br>abused it with dremel, drill, and my angle... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ Hey folks, I'd forged out a Damascus blank, and then decided that the blade was too long, so I cut off the tip and tossed it on the bench. I've done silversmithing for 30 years, and occasionally still make a piece here and there, and decided 'Hey, this would make a KEWL pendant!'. And, IMHO, it does. 			<description><![CDATA[ As much as I hate to, I am going to use some  spray on, clear coat for a sword fitting I am working on.<br>I am actually dying it dark blue. Anodize does not do it, and paint is worse. The dye is beautiful. Dykem. Yes, I know it's for layout, but it is just the effect and color I am looking for.The piece is polished aircraft aluminum. Problem is, the Dykem is fragile, so it needs a very durable, clear top coat over it that won't look too bad.<br>Any suggestions?  Thanks ]]></description>
